I have been researching maritime work as a transnational labor market for over ten years. My career combines academic research, fieldwork in South Atlantic ports, and participation in international networks dedicated to the study of labor and human mobility.

In 2013, together with Walter Marín (a former crew member on fishing vessels), I developed the project *From the Mántaras Pier: Memoirs of a Sea Worker*, which was selected by the Competitive Funds for Culture (MEC). The initiative sought to highlight maritime life and work in Uruguay through the publication of memoirs in print and digital formats ([www.desdeelmuelle.com](http://www.desdeelmuelle.com)) Desde el muelle Mántaras. Memorias de un trabajador del mar.www.desdeelmuelle.com).

My Master's thesis (2018) analyzed the migration of Peruvian workers to the port of Montevideo seeking employment in the industrial fishing industry, highlighting the connection between local and global labor markets.

In my doctoral dissertation (2024), I studied the network of national and international institutions involved in the protection of maritime workers from diverse backgrounds in Buenos Aires and Montevideo, from a transnational governance and social protection perspective.

Since 2020, I have been a member of The Global (De)Centre, an international network dedicated to the study of transnational human mobility. I am also part of the Ibero-American Network for Research on Maritime Communities (RIICOMA) and the ILO-Latin America Interdisciplinary Network.
